Blonde-haired, blue-eyed beach babe Pamela Anderson needs no introduction – and besides, we’d rather she ran her pretty mouth in slow motion. Born in the aptly-named Ladysmith, a small town in coastal British Columbia, Pam was raised in a working-class family, and at first, she followed in her mother’s footsteps as a waitress. At nineteen, Pam had tired of waiting tables, so she packed her bags and moved to Vancouver to embark on a modeling career. “Things started happening fast,” says Pam. “This was the beginning of a new life for me!” In the summer of 1989, Pam went football game, where she ended up on the video screen, wearing a form-fitting Labatt’s Beer t-shirt. The crowd went wild, and in a career-generating publicity stunt, Labatt featured Pam in a series of ads. In October 1989, we featured her on the cover of Playboy magazine, and it wasn’t long before the young Miss Anderson became Miss February 1990. At this point, we think it’s safe to say that her Centerfold has been on more bedroom walls than the light switch. “I’m a very sexual person,” confides Pam. “In Canada, making love is more private – something you don’t talk about. In America, it’s more public.” Though one of the best-loved Playmates in Playboy history, Pam had her sights set on the TV screen, and after she made the Centerfold, she made a strategic move to Los Angeles, California. “I’m a dreamer, so I guess I belong here,” she says. “Being a Playmate is the start of something big.” Miss Anderson got her feet wet as the original Tool Time girl on Home Improvement, and two seasons later, she took the plunge as C.J. Parker on the hit series Baywatch, a role she played to her best – and bustiest – abilities. Since then, she’s been featured in Raw Justice, Barb Wire and Baywatch: The Movie, and in recent years has made appearances on Big Brother and Dancing With the Stars. Pam’s personal life has been just as highly publicized – her marriages to Tommy Lee and Kid Rock made tabloid headlines, and her veganism and support of animal rights made her a promotional model for PETA. All in all, Miss Anderson’s career with Playboy has spanned four decades, and she’s been on more of our covers than any other model – the original Canadian It-Girl is an American sex symbol, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
