When someone asks, ‘Who’s that girl?’ the answer is nearly always Kelly Marie Monaco. A succulent brunette from Pennsylvania’s Poconos, Kelly spent her girlhood outdoors, climbing trees, fishing and swimming with the best of them. Trained by her mother, a former figure skater, Kelly honed her tight, toned body on the ice rink, and a summer job at a resort led her to become a lifeguard. “I’m very daring,” she says. “You don’t have to ask me twice! Success comes with bold and creative moves.” In one such move, Kelly sent us a portfolio, and here at Playboy, we know a good thing when we see it – without hesitation, we made her our Miss April 1997. Ever resourceful, Kelly leveraged her Playboy fame into a recurring role on Baywatch, rubbing shoulders with fellow Playmates Pam Anderson and Donna D’Errico. “When my Centerfold came out, I got a call from the producers,” she says. “The straight paved road won’t always get you farther than the winding dirt road!” Miss Monaco went on to become a soap actress, starring on ABC’s Port Charles and General Hospital, and nabbing two Daytime Emmys for her performances. “I stay determined,” she says. “I always try 110% to succeed in the land of make-believe.” With soft-hearted, hard-bodied Kelly Monaco, seeing is believing, and that’s more than enough for us.
