Make the cut with Kelly Carrington, our Miss October 2008. Blonde-haired, blue-eyed and all natural, she’s from Stuart, a small town on the Treasure Coast of Florida. She’s an athlete – she played lacrosse in high school, and was even named Female Athlete of the Year. “The trophy is four feet tall,” she says, “and it’s one of my most prized possessions.” She took her love for fair play to the University of Florida, where she studied public relations during the week, and went tailgating for her favorite team, the Gators, on the weekend. Like a lot of other girls, Kelly came to Playboy by way of The Girls Next Door. “I was conservative,” she says, “but The Girls Next Door changed the way she thought about my body. I thought that it looked like fun.” A friend told her she was as hot as any girl on the show, and to prove it, he sent us a few pictures of Kelly. We called her back, and before she knew it, Kelly was shooting at Studio West, meeting Hef and the Girls, and had her own room at the Mansion. Most of our girls become models or actresses, but not Kelly. When she made Playmate, she took a leave of absence from school and moved to Los Angeles. “I wasn’t there to party,” she says. “I was there to set up meetings. To work.” In her original Playmate File, Kelly expressed an interest in fashion design. Four years and a degree in public relations later, she’s founder and creative director of a high-end line of swim and resort wear. Her work has been detailed in big-league magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour, and it takes her to places like Monaco and Saint Tropez. “If you find something you love to do,” she said, way back when, “you’ll never work a day in your life.” Sounds like the case for Kelly Carrington – she loves what she does, and we love to watch her do it.
